Trinity Lutheran Church

About Us

Trinity is striving to be a church that lives up to the motto of “God’s Work. Our Hands.” We worship and nurture our faith and reach out to serve our community and the world. Our worship life is musically rich and intellectually stimulating, joyous and sacramental. We are a caring people who embrace God’s hope.

The history of Trinity dates back to the summer of 1856 when the first Norwegian immigrants settled in the area. Trinity Lutheran Church was organized as a congregation in January, 1881.

frequently asked

Visiting a church for the first time can be stressful. We understand. Here are some answers to questions you may have, as you come to Trinity Lutheran Church for the first time.

Where should I park and where do I enter the building?

When you arrive at Trinity, parking is found on the streets near Trinity (1st Street NW and Ash) and adjacent streets. The main entrance is on 1st Street NW, on the north side of the church building. This main entrance provides access to the church office and is open most days. The second doorway is along Ash, on the east side of the church. The east entrance is usually only open on Sunday mornings.

Is Trinity handicapped accessible?

Yes! We have an elevator just inside the main entrance/1st Street door that allows access upstairs to the sanctuary and downstairs to the Fellowship Hall.

How should I dress for Sunday worship?

You will find that the people attending worship at Trinity dress casually and comfortably. Some dress in jeans and t-shirts and others dress up, while many are somewhere between those two styles.

Are kids welcome at Trinity?

Children are absolutely welcome in worship.  We don’t expect kids in worship to act like adults – since they aren’t. We often hear the sounds of babies and children in worship and consider them joyful noises.

During worship we have a “Children’s Sermon” where we invite kids of all ages to come forward for a message.  We also have Children’s Worship Bags available by the doorway to the sanctuary with quiet activities inside…ask an usher to point them out to you.

We also invite children to be actively involved in worship.  There are lanyards on a coat rack at the back of the church behind the last pew that are different ‘helping roles’ in worship, such as ringing the church bell, collecting offering and helping usher.  Speak with the ushers to find the lanyards.

During the school year, children are encouraged to attend Sunday School, which takes place during worship immediately after the children’s sermon.  The Sunday School teachers step forward following the children’s sermon and lead the children from worship down to the classrooms.

How can I get more information?

You can speak with the pastor, call the church office (507-465-3635) or leave your name, address and phone number with an usher so we can get in contact with you or mail you our monthly newsletter.
